This composition ensures that 7005 aluminium alloy maintains a good balance of strength, lightweight properties, and excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking.

7005 Aluminium Alloy Mechanical Properties

Hardness (Brinell)95 – 105100 – 110100 – 110100 – 115
  • 7005-T5: Offers good tensile strength and yield strength with moderate elongation and hardness, suitable for applications requiring moderate mechanical properties.
  • 7005-T6: Provides higher tensile strength and yield strength compared to T5, with slightly reduced elongation, making it suitable for more demanding structural applications.
  • 7005-T63: Similar to T6 in terms of tensile and yield strength, suitable for applications requiring high strength.
  • 7005-T651: Provides the highest tensile and yield strength among the tempers listed, with good elongation, suitable for applications requiring maximum mechanical performance.

Choosing the appropriate temper for 7005 aluminum alloy depends on the specific requirements of the application, including the desired balance between strength, ductility, and hardness.

Specific Difference Between 6061 and 7005 Aluminum

1. the current aluminum alloy frame commonly used materials are 7005 and 6061 two.

2.7000 series mainly to zinc as the main alloy, composition ratio of 6%. 6000 series mainly to magnesium and silicon as the main alloy, the total composition ratio is lower.

3. In terms of strength, 7005 is stronger, but only slightly. As you can see from the table, the yield strength (the strength that allows aluminum to bend and deform permanently) is only slightly stronger than 6061.

4. All aluminum alloys used as frame materials are heat-treated to T6.

5. Overall, 6061 is the better material. Because 7005 contains a high proportion of other metals, welding, and processing are more difficult, especially 7075 (the last two numbers represent the proportion of alloy) its proportion is higher, so generally can not be used as a frame material. In contrast, 6061 has a lower proportion of other metals, so it can be shaped and processed to increase its strength and reduce its wind resistance, and it can even be used to reduce weight by pumping the tubes 3 times.

What Is the Melting Point of 7005 Aluminum Alloy and 7075 Aluminum Alloy?

The melting point of a substance is the temperature at which the solid and liquid states of a pure substance are in equilibrium under a certain pressure.

Since aluminum alloys are mixtures, there is no definite melting point value, but there is a melting point range. Aluminum alloys are in two-phase coexistence between the solid-phase line temperature (the minimum of the melting point range) and the liquid-phase line temperature (the maximum of the melting point range).

Aluminum alloy 7075 has a melting point range of 475-635°C.
